Nick Barberton

I was born in Cape Town and studied Industrial design. I have worked as a draftsman, a designer, a despatch worker, a teacher, a technician, an occupational therapist, a yacht carpenter, but always a maker. I have lived in Britain for twenty six years and have been making furniture full time for about eighteen years.I am making a long Garden seat, also building up stock of carved vessels for Origins Craft Fair in October. I refitted the vestry of Ringwood Parish Church. I have work in Winchester Cathedral, Manchester Art Gallery, Sculpture at Goodwood, Artsway and several mainly churches around the South. I am on the Crafts Council selected list and am a wood advisor for The Collection Gallery at the Surrey Institute in Farnham. I have a piece on the short list for the Wesley – Barrell craft awards.
